Zach Bryan started his career on YouTube in 2017 before hitting the highs of viral fame with one of his songs, "Heading South." His career went from strength to strength after that, with his debut studio album, DeAnn, arriving in 2019 and his Grand Ole Opry debut happening two years later. The lead single from his major label debut album American Heartbreak – which went to number five on the US Billboard 200 and broke the record for the biggest first week of sales for a country album in 2022 – "From Austin" is essentially about loving someone but knowing that you can't give them what they want. Zach Bryan decides that setting them free is the only way to be. "It's 'bout time that I left Austin / 'Bout time you settled down / With a man who doesn't move as quick / As the train rolling through town / 'Bout time that I face / The hard times I've let go / If love was just an ocean / I would drown before I float," he muses in the song's driving chorus.
