On 2021 single "Beat You There," South Louisiana-born country artist Will Dempsey raises a toast to absent friends. "I don't know why God always takes the good ones first / And man I've tried to be strong and carry on, but damn this hurts," he begins. The heartbreaking song is a tribute to his close childhood friend, Audrey Maria Higgins, who tragically passed away. There's a positive message in the song, however. "Don't cry for me; I'm alright / Yeah, I'm better than you know / And this life can be a shorter ride / So don't waste it on sorrow," he concludes. "Beat You There" unexpectedly reached the highs of viral fame after Will Dempsey's wife Tiffany a shared heartwarming video to Facebook that showed him playing the song on the guitar with his son. Emotive track "Beat You There"—the follow-up to his well-received 2020 single "Best Parts of Me" was later released as an official single, with other singles following in its wake: 2022's "Addicted" and "Moments into Memories."
