"Luckenbach, Texas," also known as "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" is a song popularized by outlaw country pioneer Waylon Jennings. Written by Bobby Emmons and Chips Moman, the track tells the story of a wealthy couple who, tired of their ostentatious ways, decide to move to the country to live a simpler life and salvage their marriage. Released as the first single from Jennings' 1977 album Ol' Waylon, "Luckenbach, Texas" contains several references to country music imagery, including mentions of the Hatfields and McCoys, Hank Williams, Mickey Newbury, and Jerry Jeff Walker. It also features guest vocals by Willie Nelson during the final refrain. Shortly after its release as a commercial single, "Luckenbach, Texas" reached the top of Billboard's US Hot Country Songs chart and peaked at Number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100, pushing its parent album to Number 1 on the country albums chart.
