Here, U2 deliver one of their most anthemic and best-known tracks, ripped straight from the heart of their seminal 1987 album The Joshua Tree, which took inspiration from America. Amplified by the towering imagery of the lyrics ("I have climbed highest mountain," "I have scaled these city walls"), "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" draws from a wellspring of existential feeling, open to interpretation but certainly hinting at the idea of spiritual transcendence. Written by Adam Clayton, The Edge, Bono, and Larry Mullen, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the 30th Annual Grammy Awards in 1988. This live version of the track was performed by U2 with Dennis Bell's gospel choir New Voices of Freedom on 28th September 1987 at New York's Madison Square Garden and included on the band's hybrid live/studio album Rattle and Hum in 1988.
