Despite its mellow good-time vibes and catchy melodies, the funk-pop anthem "Dancing in the Moonlight" has a quite gruesome origin story. Written by Sherman Kelly, it was inspired by a vicious attack he suffered at the hands of a St. Croix gang in 1969. Instead of harboring feelings of resentment, fear, or hatred against the perpetrators, he decided to write an overwhelmingly joyful song that celebrated life in a peaceful, loving way. The resulting track, "Dancing in the Moonlight," was first recorded by Sherman Kelly's band Boffalongo in 1970 and was further popularized by French-American band King Harvest in 1972. In February 2000, the English band Toploader released a cover of "Dancing in the Moonlight" as the third single from their 1999 studio debut Onka's Big Moka. The track was re-released in November of that year with additional production by Stargate and peaked at Number 7 on the Official UK Singles Chart.

It sounds too busy now and the ending is cheesey. I prefer the version I already have thanks.
