"Cold Sweat" is a song by Thin Lizzy from their final album Thunder and Lightning. The Irish rock band, led by singer/bassist Phil Lynott scored two huge hits in the 70s, "Jailbreak," and "The Boys Are Back in Town." Lynott wrote most of the band's songs and was the first black artist to have international success fronting a rock band. Although Lynott was born in England, he was raised by his grandparents in Ireland and always considered himself Irish. Guitarist John Sykes was hired before the band went into the studio to record Thunder and Lightning. Most of the album had been written before he was hired but he brought in a rough instrumental idea for a song which he and Lynott finished in the studio. It became the album's first single, "Cold Sweat."
