Now That We Found Love is an iconic Philadelphia soul song recorded by the R&B/soul vocal group The O’Jays. By 1973, the band had already made a name for themselves as stalwarts of the soul genre, releasing six albums that had achieved various degrees of success. However, it wasn’t until the release of 1973’s Ship Ahoy that they would really be catapulted to the stratosphere of success. This is in large part thanks to songs such as For the Love of Money and Put Your Hands Together.” Another song that was considered one of the key tracks in the album is Now That We Found Love,” an inspiring song penned by the songwriting duo of Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff. The song was also produced by Gamble and Huff. Ship Ahoy peaked at Number 11 on the US Billboard 200, and also reached Number 1 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The song would also go on to be covered by American group Heavy D and the Boyz in 1991, in a dance/house style that would prove very successful in the charts.
