"I'll Be Good To You" is a song by the R&B sibling duo The Brothers Johnson. George, the guitar-playing Johnson brother, started writing the song after deciding to commit to just one woman. He explained the tricky situation to the Billboard Book of #1 R&B Hits, saying, "At the time I was seeing three young ladies. It got to the point where things were a little hectic, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas time." That one special woman became his wife, Debbie Johnson. Bassist Louis usually sang lead on most of their songs but their mentor and producer Quincy Jones persuaded George to sing “I’ll Be Good To You.” The song became a huge hit for the duo. Their album, Look Out for #1, went platinum and they were nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy.
