"Chattanooga Choo Choo" is a song written by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Mack Gordon. Despite having been covered by countless artists since its inception, one of the most iconic versions was recorded by the close harmony singing group The Andrews Sisters, who released it as a single in 1941 featuring instrumentation by Vic Schoen and His Orchestra. Later recorded by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra, it debuted in the film Sun Valley Serenade, marking a historical milestone as the first song to be awarded a gold record by RCA Victor in 1942 after selling 1.2 million copies. Achieving the number 1 spot on December 7, 1941, it dominated the Billboard Best Sellers chart for nine weeks. The song's lyrics describe a journey from Pennsylvania Station to Chattanooga, Tennessee, depicted through a dialogue between a passenger and a shoeshine boy. Musically, it features distinctive train-like sound effects, including trumpet and trombone imitations of train whistles, setting a creative auditory scene.
