When a musician writes a song for another artist, it’s common for that musician to later try their own hand at their creation. Such is the case with “Better Man,” a song written by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift way back in 2016 for the American country group Little Big Town. The song was initially released as the lead single from the group’s eighth album The Breaker (2017). Reportedly, the song was sent to the group by Taylor Swift because its use of harmonies reminded her of them. Several years later, in 2021, Taylor Swift revealed to her fans that she would be recording her own version of the song as part of her re-recording of her own album Red. “Better Man (Taylor's Version)” would be one of nine previously unreleased songs that would accompany the album’s re-recording as bonus material. This new version of “Better Man” was produced by Taylor Swift along with Aaron Dessner. Red (Taylor’s Version) peaked at Number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
