Written by Russian-American composer Irving Berlin in 1954, the song "Sisters" first appeared on the musical film White Christmas, starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye. Performed by actress Rosemary Clooney and Trudy Stevens, who provided the singing voice for Vera-Ellen's character, the song is an endearing ode to sisterhood and, like many of the songs in the film, is performed in the big-band jazz genre with arrangements by bandleader and orchestrator Percy Faith. Due to a conflict of interest between Decca Records and Columbia Records, which had an exclusive contract with Rosemary Clooney at the time, two separate soundtracks were issued: Selections from Irving Berlin's White Christmas, featuring vocals by singer Peggy Lee and arrangements by Joseph Lilley, and Irving Berlin's White Christmas, which was recorded by the actress herself. In the latter, "Sisters" is sung by Rosemary Clooney with her sister Betty Clooney on what is commonly accepted as the most popular version of the song.
