Originally written and recorded by the one and only Van Morrison for his nineteenth studio album Avalon Sunset (1989), Rod Stewart took on "Have I Told You Lately" in 1991 and traveled to the top of the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, where he hung around for five weeks. He included the song on his album Vagabond Heart (1991) with a live version from his LP Unplugged...and Seated (1993) later released as a single and hitting Number 5 in both the UK and the US. Owing to the popularity of Rod Stewart's version, a number of other artists over the years have been inspired to follow suit, including Kenny Rogers, Barbara Mandrell, Michael Ball, Della Reese, Engelbert Humperdinck and Andy Williams.
