Pop megastars often draw inspiration from everyday life. On his 2021 single "Alone," Rag'n'Bone Man chews over the pressures and judgments that come with age–and gender. This track, which is served by a moody video, was taken from his second studio album, the UK chart-topping Life By Misadventure (2021) – which also featured a collaboration with Pink, "Anywhere Away from Here" – and was inspired by a thought-provoking conversation the BRIT Award-winning British singer-songwriter had recently had with a friend. "Hurry up and find the one / Who makes you feel like you've become complete," he bellows in the opening verse, before continuing to channel his disapproval and air his opinion: "Feed the kids and wash their clothes, Be jealous of the life that's out of reach / You've never felt that way inclined / It's taken all the years to find out you're free, supposedly."
