All that jet-setting across the world as a top-selling superstar has taken its toll on Post Malone who states his need for some serious rest and recuperation on "Overdrive." "I spend my nights on overdrive / I live my life so overtired / And there's nowhere I can hide / Now I live my life on overdrive," he confesses at the start of this softly spoken pop song, a marked departure from his previous trap-tinted endeavours. "Overdrive" finds the tattooed star musing on his mindset while taking stock of a relationship. "I'd remove my tattoos if that's cool to you," he offers. The track served as the third taste of Post Malone's fifth album Austin, which was released in July 2023 via Mercury Records/Republic Records. The LP was sonically oriented in indie-pop, synth-pop, and alternative rock with Post Malone at the production controls along with Andrew Watt, Louis Bell, Max Martin, and Rami Yacoub.
