"Burning Down the House" is one of the most popular tracks from American new wave band Talking Heads, released in July 1983 as part of their fifth album, Speaking in Tongues. A live version was featured in the group's iconic 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense, which was later remastered and re-released in 2023 to celebrate the film’s 40th anniversary. A tribute album titled Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense was released as a companion piece to the film's restored version in 2024, featuring a version by pop-punk band Paramore. Though largely faithful to the original, Paramore's rendition of "Burning Down the House" infused the song with a slightly poppier feel, driven by lead singer Hayley Williams' vocal prowess. Inspired by a Parliament-Funkadelic concert attended by drummer Chris Frantz, the original version of "Burning Down the House" blends elements of new wave, funk, and art rock, and its lyrics capture a spirit of chaotic renewal and unexpected change.
