The honky-tonk classic "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You)" was written and recorded by country legend Hank Williams in March 1951. Like many songs in his catalog, it perfectly describes the nature of heartbreak using simple yet poetic language. The track was recorded at Castle Studio in Nashville, Tennessee, and features his backing band The Drifting Cowboys. It was released as a single on April 25, 1951, as the B-side to "Howlin' at the Moon," but it quickly outperformed the latter by reaching Number 2 on the Billboard Country Singles chart. In the following decades, "I Can't Help It (If I'm Still in Love with You)" became a classic standard of the genre and was covered by George Jones, Willie Nelson, and Patsy Cline, who included it in her third studio album Sentimentally Yours (1962) along with another Hank Williams original, "Your Cheatin' Heart." The LP featured background vocals by The Jordanaires and was the last album Patsy Cline released before her death in a plane crash a year later.
