Backed by fully charged guitar riffs, distortion and bombastic drums, Scottish hard rockers Nazareth – who randomly took their name from the Nazareth in Pennsylvania – deliver a cautionary message: "Turn on your receiver / There's a message comin' through / Keep your hands off my woman / Keep your hands to yourself / Keep your hands off my woman." Formed in 1968 and comprising vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew and drummer Darrell Sweet, Nazareth found hard rock fame in the 1970s with hits including "Love Hurts" and their 1975 album Hair of the Dog. Featured on their fourth album Loud 'n' Proud, which was their second LP released in 1973 and which topped the Austrian charts, "Turn on Your Receiver" was written by the band members and fuses a rockabilly-tinged, power-pop base with hard rock elements and multi-vocal harmonies.
