"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" hitmakers Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye immortalised their platonic love for each other on this twinkling soul gem from 1968, which was one of the last records the former made before her tragic death from a brain tumor in 1970, famously recording the single while in recovery from surgery. "You're All I Need to Get By" was a high-water mark for Motown Records – despite veering off course from the typical Motown sound, preferring instead to embrace a rich gospel aesthetic – and reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as taking the number one on Billboard's Hot R&B/Soul Singles chart where it remained for five weeks. "You're All I Need to Get By," which featured background vocals from Ashford & Simpson and was also produced by said husband-and-wife team, went on to form the roots of the 1995 single "I'll Be There for You/You're All I Need to Get By" from Method Man and Mary J. Blige.
