One could arguably say that Santana's 1969 eponymous debut album opened the door for many Latin-influenced rock bands in the US, spawning a whole new genre that reached its peak during the early 1970s. One clear example of this phenomenon was Malo, a San Francisco-based ensemble that masterfully blended Latin music with rock, jazz, blues, and psychedelia. Led by singer Arcelio García and guitarist Jorge Santana (the brother of Carlos Santana), Malo signed to Warner Brothers in 1971 and released their self-titled studio debut a year later. The album featured the hit single "Suavecito" (Spanish for "smooth"), a silky-smooth romantic jam that peaked at Number 18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Number 8 on the Easy Listening charts. Written by Richard Bean, Abel Zarate, and Pablo Tellez, "Suavecito" was the biggest hit of the band's career and eventually became an anthem of the Latin community in the United States. In 1999, the song's lush vocal harmonies served as an inspiration for Sugar Ray's hit song "Every Morning."

For karaoke, as close to the original album cut as one can ever get.
