"Rumors" is the first single and title track from Lizzo's fourth studio album. The chart-topping artist took this opportunity to address her haters and the internet trolls who had been posting negative things about her. Facing them head-on, she sings, "All the rumors are true, yeah / What ya heard, that's true, yeah / I f*%# him and you, yeah / If you believe I do that." Lizzo said she had only one special guest in mind to collaborate on the song, Cardi B. The fellow singer/rapper has also been the target of internet rumors and gossip. Because of the Covid lockdown, Lizzo sent her song to Cardi B, who then added her part as the two FaceTimed. Their collaboration, which was filled with attitude and humor, gave the two talented artists a #4 Hot 100 and #1 R&B hit.
