Thousands of users created their own videos to the song as part of the "Yeehaw Challenge." The song became so popular so fast the radio stations had to go to YouTube for a copy to play. Lil Nas X mentioned that he'd like Billy Ray Cyrus to sing on it. Cyrus agreed and the two created the duet "Old Town Road (remix)." The country music superstar said the original song reminded him of the Old Town Bridge he used to play on when he was a kid in Kentucky. The song became a worldwide smash, topping the charts and winning two Grammys. In 2021, the song became the biggest selling song in history, 14 times platinum.
