Canadian pop idol Justin Bieber has released a few Christmas songs of his own. One of the earliest ones is “Mistletoe,” a song written by Justin Bieber along with Nasri Atweh and Adam Messinger, AKA the production duo The Messengers (who also recorded the song). “Mistletoe” was included as part of Justin Bieber’s second studio album (and first Christmas album altogether) Under the Mistletoe (2011). Melding pop and R&B elements and prominently featuring the sound of sleigh bells in the background, “Mistletoe” garnered raves from fans and critics alike, who praised the song’s reggae-influenced rhythm and laid-back vibe. The song’s lyrics reference the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe. “Mistletoe” peaked at Number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Chart, as well as Number 1 on the US Holiday 100 Chart. It eventually was certified triple Platinum by RIAA for sales of over 3,000,000 in the United States.
