San Francisco supergroup Journey, comprising members of Santana, Steve Miller Band, and Frumious Bandersnatch, formed in 1973 and had already claimed a string of hit songs to their name (including 1981's "Don't Stop Believin'") when they released "Faithfully" in 1983. A power ballad of seismic quality with epic rock at its core, "Faithfully" finds the band in sentimental mode on a song which was penned by Journey's Jonathan Cain while on a tour bus on its way to Saratoga Springs, New York: "They say that the road ain't no place to start a family / Right down the line it's been you and me / And lovin' a music man ain't always what it's supposed to be / Oh, girl, you stand by me / I'm forever yours, faithfully," he sings on Journey’s second single from their eighth studio album, Frontiers. "Faithfully" became one of their biggest and immutable tracks, peaking at Number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
