The album serves as a tribute to the three kings of the blues, Albert King, B.B. King, and Freddie King. Bonamassa and B.B. King go way back. He opened for the senior bluesman at 12. Since then, he has released 15 albums, with 11 of them, including this live album, reaching #1 on the Blues chart. Bonamassa's version of "I'll Play the Blues for You (live)" benefits from his tight, soulful band complete with horns and background vocalists. He makes the song his own while soloing on a guitar that was custom made for the late Albert King, on loan from its current owner, actor Steven Seagal.
