Even though Ukrainian metalcore band Jinjer was originally formed in 2009 in Donetsk, it wasn't until 2010 that their career finally took off. This newfound popularity had a lot to do with the addition of charismatic singer Tatiana Shmailyuk and guitarist Roman Ibramkhalilov, who are now the driving force behind the group. After delivering a handful of EPs in their first years as a band, Jinjer released their studio debut Cloud Factory (2014), followed by their breakthrough album, King of Everything, in 2016. "Pisces," the album's lead single, quickly became a hit among Jinjer's fan base thanks to its groovy instrumentation and the band's trademark brutal breakdowns. Drawing inspiration from Tatiana Shmailyuk's interest in astrology, the lyrics to "Pisces" are a love letter to her astrological family and describe the struggles of being born under that sign. In the following years, the song became one of the band's signature songs and was ranked Number 74 on Metal Hammer's list of The 100 Greatest Metal Songs of the 21st Century in 2021.
