"Skating Away (On the Thin Ice of the New Day)" is a song by the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull. The song is from their seventh studio album, War Child. The band had planned to release a double album along with a film, but when the film project fell through, they cut it down to ten songs. The lyrics talk of survival in a changing world while searching for life's meaning. Frontman/songwriter Ian Anderson described "Skating Away (On the Thin Ice of the New Day)" as his first song addressing ecology. "I still have a fondness for it today, because it is talking with optimism about facing the changing world and a changing climate to which we have to adapt, bravely and optimistically. And it feels very apt and appropriate for today."
The backing track for "Skating Away (On the Thin Ice of the New Day)" is available with background vocals or as an instrumental on Karaoke Version.

Excellent backing track - well done. It's great to have some tracks like this that are distinct from the standard/classic/encore Tull 'old chestnuts'. Songs like this which weren't played to death back in the day remain fresh. Thanks very much for the fine job.
