"Why Don't You Do Right" is an American blues and jazz-influenced pop song, famously covered by the character Jessica Rabbit in the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Originally titled "Weed Smoker's Dream" and recorded in 1936 by the Harlem Hamfats, the song was credited to Kansas Joe McCoy. The songwriter later refined the composition and lyrics, transforming it into the classic "woman's blues" song it's known as today. The rewritten version, now titled "Why Don't You Do Right," was first recorded by Lil Green in 1941, featuring guitar by William "Big Bill" Broonzy, and became an early jazz and blues hit. Its lyrics speak from the perspective of a woman confronting her partner for his irresponsible ways. Peggy Lee's 1942 rendition with Benny Goodman brought the song to a wider audience and became one of her signature tunes. In Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the song takes on a sultry and captivating character when performed by Jessica Rabbit, voiced by Amy Irving for the singing parts, while Kathleen Turner provided her speaking voice.

Even though I understand this is the Jessica Rabbit version, a middle part with music would have been appreciated as in the Peggy Lee version. Thank you
