Reviving the fast-paced, snotty pop-punk with which they made their name, Green Day took a direct train back to their sonic hometown on 2023 single "Look Ma, No Brains!" Produced by Rob Cavallo, "Look Ma, No Brains!" serves up a shot of pure, inane fun from the "Wake Me Up When September Ends" hit-makers. "Don't know much about history / 'Cause I never learned how to read / Dropout, I'm a knucklehead / Sick boy and I shit the bed," sneers Billie Joe Armstrong in the opening verse, celebrating both 'deviants' and 'dropouts'. "Look Ma, No Brains!" was issued as the second single from Green Day's fourteenth album Saviors (2024), which was viewed as a triumphant return to form from the band who gave us Dookie and American Idiot. The LP was recorded in London and presented as the final instalment in an album trilogy that began with 1994’s Dookie and 2004’s American Idiot. Saviors soared to the top of the UK Albums Chart and reached number four in the US.
