"The one I love belongs to somebody else / She means her tender songs for somebody else," begins Frank Sinatra, his voice framed by an uptempo big bang arrangement that somehow belies the song's despondent lyrics. "And even when I have my arms around her / I know her thoughts are strong for somebody else," he continues, driving home the message that it's 'tough to be alone'. "'Ol Blue Eyes" originally recorded the song in 1940 with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and went to number 11 in the US but re-recorded "The One I Love Belongs to Somebody Else" for his Capitol album No One Cares, in 1959. He later reprised the track for his 1961 Reprise album I Remember Tommy... which was recorded as a tribute to the aforementioned bandleader Tommy Dorsey and featured re-recorded versions of the various songs Frank Sinatra had first performed or recorded with Tommy Dorsey.
