"A Little Less Conversation" was taken on its first outing in the 1968 MGM musical comedy film Live a Little, Love a Little, which starred Elvis Presley. Songwriters Mac Davis and Billy Strange originally had Aretha Franklin in mind but the track was later chosen to soundtrack a pool party moment in the film as it brought the scene to life seamlessly. This pleasure-seeking rock 'n' number about a seductive encounter was released as a single with "Almost in Love" as the A-side but only just grazed the US Billboard Hot 100 at the time of its release. It was nearly forty years later that the song would have its true moment in the spotlight. In 2002, an era-defining big beat remix by Dutch artist Junkie XL of a later re-recording of the track became a chart-crushing global hit, reaching the singles summit in nine countries, including the UK, while also hitting the top 10 in multiple countries.
