Born in Cairo, Georgia, Eddie Lovette enriched his soulful offerings with deep Caribbean spice and brought a soft romantic edge to his music. In 1969, he charted on the US Billboard Hot 100 with his cover of Bob Andy's "Too Experienced," and was honoured at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards in 1984 as the Top International Male Singer. He released six albums in total during his career, which was sadly cut short at 55 following his death from lung cancer in 1998. Released two years after his "Too Experienced" chart victory, "To Love Somebody" highlights a romantic relationship with someone that is both intense and unconditional. "There's a light, a certain kind of light / That never shine on me / I like my life to be / to be with you, to be with you," he gushes. The lovers rock track was included on Eddie Lovette's 1986 album Rockers for Lovers Vol.2, which was released via K & K Records.
