In 1962, the "King of Cool" set his sights on a popular standard in this cinematic interpretation of "My One and Only Love," originally written by Guy Wood and lyrics by Robert Mellin in 1953, and released as the second track from Dean Martin's Cha Cha Amor album, which comprised twelve tracks formed from an "authentic Afro-Cuban rhythm section," as hinted by the album's Cuban-rooted title. Previous covers of this romantic ballad included a version by Frank Sinatra in 1953 and one from John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman the year following Dean Martin's cover. Elsewhere, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, and others delivered vocal-led takes. "My One and Only Love" was subsequently anointed as a jazz standard.
