"I'm the One" is a song from Danzig's second album Danzig II: Lucifuge, released on June 26, 1990, through Def American Recordings. Written by lead singer Glenn Danzig and produced by Rick Rubin, "I'm the One" is a brooding blues track about a man that leaves behind a life of hardships to fulfill his own fate. According to original guitarist John Christ, the song was meant to be included in the band's first LP but was ultimately left out because it didn't fit the album's heavier sound. Just like the rest of Danzig II: Lucifuge, "I'm the One" features sparse, blues-influenced instrumentation and extensive use of satanic imagery. Even though it failed to enter the rock charts in the US after its release in 1991, the track became a favorite among Danzig's fanbase. Its parent album reached Number 74 on the Billboard 200 and received favorable reviews. It would be re-released in 1998 by American Recordings.
