US country singer Crystal Gayle revived her creative chemistry with composer Richard Leigh – who was behind all three of her previous Top Ten Hot Country Songs hits, including chart-topper "I'll Get Over You" – for 1977's "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue." The sequel to Crystal Gayle's debut 1970 single "I've Cried the Blue Right Out Of My Eyes," (which was written by her older sister Loretta Lynn) "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue" was originally set aside for Brenda Lee, but her blue eyes prevented her from singing the song authentically. Instead, Crystal Gayle stepped in and recorded her version as the first single on her 1977 album We Must Believe in Magic and the song topped the Billboard country music chart for four weeks, becoming Crystal Gayle's first and most notable crossover pop hit, sticking around at Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks. The track picked up two Grammys in 1977 Grammy: Best Country Vocal and Best Country Song for writer Richard Leigh.

A wonderful rendition. With a +1 or +2 Key change, makes a very nice male baritone tune. Thanks, KV
