This mellowed-out easy listening ballad from Chicago was written by Peter Cetera and included on the group's 1974 album Chicago VII. "Happy Man" – which depicts the positive effects of love – was later covered by Tony Orlando and Dawn on their album To Be With You, with songwriter Peter Cetera also taking on the song again for his 1995 solo album One Clear Voice and again in 2005 on his solo album Faithfully, which is a re-release of One Clear Voice. Chicago – one of the biggest rock groups of the '70s and '80s and one of the world's best-selling groups of all time, with more than 100 million records to their name – formed in their namesake city in 1968, originally calling themselves the Chicago Transit Authority in 1968, before cutting their name down to Chicago the following year and releasing their debut album. That same year, they received nominated for a Grammy Award for 1969 Best New Artist of the Year.
