"Queen of Funk" Chaka Khan brought 1983 earworm "Ain't Nobody" into the world via her career-defining band Rufus, with whom she kickstarted her career and amassed a trove of hit singles. The song very nearly slipped through their fingers – Quincy Jones had envisioned it for Michael Jackson's Thriller – but once the ensemble made it their own, there was no stopping them. "Ain't Nobody" rose to the top of the US Billboard R&B chart and to Number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It also marked the first outing for Roger Linn's innovative LM-1 Drum, the world's first programmable, sampled-sound drum machine, which was the backbone of "Ain't Nobody's" infectious keyboard loop. Ain’t Nobody also heralded the end of Chaka Khan's career with Rufus – this was her last charting single with the funky soul slayers. The second coming of "Ain't Nobody" took place in 1989 when Chicago house god Frankie Knuckles served up a remixed version of the song that went all the way to Number 6 in the UK.

The ending drags out a bit too long, but other than that it's a great track.
