Every once in a while, a song comes along that perfectly captures the sound of an artist, serving as a sort of musical calling card. “All the Small Things,” the breakout mainstream single for American punk-pop band Blink-182, is a fantastic example of that. Managing to convey both the bratty punk aesthetic that influenced the band, as well as their penchant for pop melodies and romanticism, “All the Small Things” was released as the second single to the band’s third studio album Enema of the State (1999) and immediately pushed the band to stratospheric heights of success. Written primarily by singer-guitarist Tom DeLonge, “All the Small Things” is a song about finding comfort in little expressions of love. It was produced by Jerry Finn and debuted at Number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. However, it quickly climbed up to Number 6 on the chart, becoming Blink-182’s most successful single.
