Written by an unstoppable team of Bill Withers, William Salter, and Ralph MacDonald, and recorded by Grover Washington Jr. with Bill Withers providing vocals, "Just the Two of Us" was released in February 1981 via Elektra Records and is known best for its catchy refrain; "Just the two of us / We can make it if we try / Just the two of us (Just the two of us) / Just the two of us / Building castles in the sky / Just the two of us / You and I." With Richard Tee on the electric piano, an edited version of the jazzy soul song – which first showed up on Grover Washington Jr.'s album Winelight in 1980 – made it to number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and remains a timeless classic. In 1997, the one and only Will Smith re-directed the romantic focus of "Just the Two of Us" to explore a father and son relationship for the fourth single from his debut solo album, Big Willie Style, bringing in samples and lyrics from Bill Withers' and Grover Washington Jr’s original.

Sounds very true to Bill Withers. Rhytmically absolute to the point.
