Ashley McBryde turns to the bottle again for inspiration on the second of her The Devil I Know tracks with whiskey in the title (also see: "Whiskey and Country Music"). For "Women Ain't Whiskey," the Grammy-winning country star tries a slightly different tack, reducing her sound to a slow-burning simmer as she delivers a stinging, empowering message to the song's protagonist (and men in general): "Women ain't whiskey / You can't just quit me / When you get lonely." Co-written with Hillary Lindsey, Chris LaCorte, and Jon Nite, "Women Ain't Whiskey," popped up on Ashley McBryde's 2023 record The Devil I Know, the successor to her critically acclaimed concept offering Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, which was grounded in the lively fictional universe of Lindeville. The album received a nod for Album of the Year at the CMA Awards while Ashley McBryde also received a nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year.
