"I saw you dancing in a crowded room (Uh) / You look so happy when I'm not with you / But then you saw me, caught you by surprise / A single teardrop falling from your eye," sings The Weeknd in the opening verse to "Save Your Tears (remix)," one of the more synth-poppy songs from the Canadian superstar's fourth studio album After Hours (2020). A remix of the song by US producer whizz Oneohtrix Point Never was released alongside the deluxe edition of After Hours in March 2020, while another remix of the song, made with Ariana Grande, whose soulful vocals add a glossier depth to the catchy gem, landed in April 2021, and shot to Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Save Your Tears (remix)" marries The Weeknd's predilection for neon-lit '80s pop and synthesizers with his go-to love and relationship themes and crisp, big-sounding modern pop production.
