Joseph Edgar Foreman aka US rapper and multi-faceted star Afroman rose to fame for his weed-loving classic "Because I Got High" in 2000, and the follow-up 2001 single "Crazy Rap," which was featured on the fourth studio album by the Mississippi-based artist, The Good Times. Also included on that album was this stripped-back electro-funk jam, "Palmdale," on which he chronicles his upbringing in LA's East Palmdale. "Palmdale, come back to me / I need you and I love you, baby / Palmdale, come back to me" he croons on this ode to his hometown. The year following the track's release, Afroman received a Grammy Award nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance for the aforementioned hit "Because I Got High," which was catapulted into the spotlight after being featured in the films Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, (2001), The Perfect Score (2004) and Disturbia (2007).
