After American rapper Afroman burst into the mainstream with his breakout smash hit “Because I Got High,” he followed it with another distinctive, comedy-tinged single. “Crazy Rap,” also known as “Colt 45 and 2 Zig-Zags,” was written by Afroman and produced in collaboration with The Savalas Brothers. The song was featured on Afroman’s third album Sell Your Dope, though it’s a new recording of a song that first appeared on his self-released debut album My Fro-losophy. True to Afroman’s irreverent style, the lyrics in “Crazy Rap” detail the singer’s various sexual experiences, with a chorus proclaiming that drugs and alcohol are all he needs to be happy. “Crazy Rap” charted all across Europe, reaching the Top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. “Crazy Rap” also appears in Afroman’s Greatest Hits collection The Good Times, released in 2001.
