The song draws on the dark clouds of an approaching storm ("razor's edge"), embodying this meteorological metaphor to ominous effect while hinting at something more sinister and urgent, possibly to cast out commentary on war ("There's fighting on the left / And marching on the right / Don't look up in the sky / You're gonna die of fright"). In spite of its stormy emotions and gloomy symbolism, the song became a live staple, with the album helping to re-anoint AC/DC as the reigning kings of Australian kings of hard rock.
