The Rolling Stones made a triumphant return to music in 2023 with their first album of original material since 2005's A Bigger Bang, and their first since the 2021 death of drummer Charlie Watts; the critically acclaimed LP Hackney Diamonds. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "Bite My Head Off” is the fourth track on Hackney Diamonds and significantly features none other than Sir Paul McCartney on bass; the first time he has stepped into a Rolling Stones song in 56 years. This garage-rock juggernaut harks back to the band's early days with a punky sound and somewhat outdated message that feels ripped out of a 1970s scrapbook, supposedly mining the oft-trouble ground of woman trouble, or feeling subjugated by a more dominating presence. Elsewhere, the Andrew Watt-produced album also saw the likes of Elton John, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, and former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman take turns in the guest seat.
