"Memory Motel" is a ballad from he Rolling Stones' 1976 album, Black and Blue. Written by the creative tandem of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it is a unique entry in the band's catalog for both its length (stretching over seven minutes) and the shared vocal duties between the lead singer and the guitarist. The origins of "Memory Motel" can be traced back to a creative period before The Rolling Stones' Tour of the Americas '75. Mick Jagger, staying with Keith Richards at Andy Warhol's house in Montauk, New York, began penning the song, drawing inspiration from their surroundings and experiences. The title "Memory Motel" is rooted in reality, named after an actual motel in Montauk, Long Island. Its lyrics depict a fleeting love affair, sparked by a one-night stand at the motel. Though the original version wasn't released as a single, a live version from their 1998 live album No Security reached number 43 in the Polish charts.
