His next album, The Sound in Your Mind, was released in 1976 and quickly reached the top of the US country charts thanks to its lead single "I'd Have to Be Crazy." Originally written by musician Steven Fromholz, the song is a slow-burning love ballad driven forward by acoustic guitar, piano, subtle drumming, and occasional harmonica flourishes.
