Imagine being in debt to the devil? On "Heaven Nor Hell," Volbeat's central protagonist has sold his soul to Beelzebub but, after stealing it back, ends up owing him instead. The Copenhagen band – comprising vocalist and guitarist Michael Poulsen, guitarist Rob Caggiano, drummer Jon Larsen and bassist Kaspar Boye Larsen – scored a Top 40 US rock single with "Heaven Nor Hell," which was the third single from their fourth studio album Beyond Hell/Above Heaven (2010). "Heaven Nor Hell" is essentially a treatise on religion, alluding to the fact that ultimately we need neither heaven nor hell for survival. The track features harmonica from Henrik Hall of Danish pop-rock group Love Shop.
