Vince Gill's 1995 slow-burning country ballad "Go Rest High On That Mountain" is steeped in beauty and sadness; a lonesome, soaring song inspired by the death of country legend Keith Whitley who passed away due to complications from alcoholism in 1989. "I know your life on earth was troubled / And only you could know the pain / You weren't afraid to face the devil / You were no stranger to the rain," sings the US multi-instrumentalist in the opening verse, his voice sounding earnest and dignified. Backed by piano, guitar and strings, his emotion truly comes to the fore in the sublime chorus: "So go rest high on that mountain / Son, your work on earth is done / Go to heaven a-shoutin' / Love for the Father and the Son." Vince Gill won the CMA's Song of the Year award in 1996 as well as two Grammy Awards for Best Male Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song in the 38th Grammy Awards.

This is a really good instrumental of the original and the ability to pick the key is a great advantage to those of us that don't have the upper range of a Vince Gill. If you love this song or just like it, seriously consider this arrangement. It's very true to the original.

love all the tracks, but when you try to change the key to a lower note, you get a terrible worble in the music....why is that? Can if be fixed?
