"Take a Hint" is one of the many razor-sharp anthems produced by teen musical sitcom Victorious, which was created by Dan Schneider and aired on Nickelodeon from 2010–13. A sassy electro-pop banger, "Take a Hint" is performed by protagonists Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) and her rival Jade West (Elizabeth Gillies) in the episode "Tori and Jade's Playdate," from season 3 (March 2012) of the series. The song finds the pair addressing unwanted male attention. "I am not your missin' link / Let me tell you what I think / I think you could use a mint / Take a hint, take a hint," they roar over a pulsating backdrop. Written by James Michael, Kevin Kadish, and Meghan Kabir, "Take a Hint"—which was certified platinum—was one of the standout numbers on the show's hit second soundtrack Victorious 2.0: More Music from the Hit TV Show, which was released in June 2012 by Nickelodeon Records in association with Sony Music.
