The visual image of gothic overlords Type O Negative kicking off their shoes and soaking up the carefree joys of summer is quite something, but in their reinterpretation of this woozy al fresco classic, they sail pretty close to the wind. Lyrically, that is. The New York goth metallers take an axe to the 1972 yacht rock faithful from soft-rock duo Seals & Croft, slowing the song down and covering it in sludge. The band's version of the track – which also became a hit for The Isley Brothers in 1974 – was included on their album Bloody Kisses, which was released in 1993 and became the first LP on the legendary Roadrunner Records – home to the likes of Stone Sour and Slash – to gain gold certification. Bloody Kisses also spawned a beast in "Black No. 1," which propelled the band's career to cult status, while laying out the blueprint for their uniquely creepy, deadpan gothic metal sound.
